David Jon Rowe, age 74, of Osage, died Friday, December 1, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, with Pastor David Werges and Deacon Elayne Werges officiating. Inurnment will be in the Osage Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

David Jon Rowe was born September 7, 1943, on his parent’s, Lester and Dallas (Nack) Rowe, farm north of Mitchell. He was baptized at the Osage Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage. David attended country school at Rock #1 through the 4th grade and graduated in May of 1962 from Osage High School.

He continued to help his Dad after graduation with livestock chores and field work until 1967 when he began to farm the Martin Fabricius farm located just one mile north of his parent’s farm in Rock Township. In his younger years David enjoyed riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, as well as bowling with his friends during his free time.

David married Jane Krogstad on October 2, 1975, in Ames. He continued to farm and raise purebred Angus cows and calves in Rock Township until 1998. David then worked at Grain Millers in St. Ansgar until he retired in December of 2008. David and Jane moved to Osage in the fall of 2006.

He and Jane enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends and socializing with their neighbors. David especially enjoyed his three grandsons, Adler, Cohen, and Griffen Rowe. He looked forward to attending their activities, their visits, and watching them grow. David was member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where he served as a Deacon, Usher, and President of the Rock Creek Lutheran Brotherhood. He also served as a Board Member of the Osage Cooperative Elevator.

David is survived by his wife, Jane Rowe of Osage; son, Joseph (Pamela) Rowe of Manly; grandsons, Adler, Cohen, and Griffen Rowe all of Manly; brother, Jerald Rowe of Alaska; mother-in-law, Dorothy Krogstad of Osage; sisters-in-law, Janet (Frank) Philipp of Aurora, Colorado, Jean (Bill) Klinkenberg of The Villages, Florida, and Janan (Joe) Canacari of Clinton, Utah; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Jon David Rowe; father-in-law, Glen Krogstad; brother-in-law, Mark Powers; and sister-in-law, Patricia Rowe.

In Lieu of flowers the family request memorials be given to Hospice of North Iowa or Mitchell County Home Health Care.
