Richard James Olson, 68, also known as (Rich or Sack) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and formerly of Osage, Iowa, peacefully died at his home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, November 18, 2017.
Richard Olson was born October 28, 1949, to Robert and Geraldine Olson, in Osage, Iowa. He was baptized at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Osage. Rich attended school in Osage and was involved in sports, church choir, Sunday school, playing in bands.
He graduated with the class of 1969, and went on to graduate from Calmer Vo Tech. Rich moved to Albuquerque where he met and later married his wife Cheryl on February 28, 1992. He was employed by GE where he worked on jet engines until his retirement. Rich was well known for his love of old classic cars and had a passion for buying and fixing them up. Other interests include; motorcycling, boating, spending time with family and friends, the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, music, gardening, but most of all, he loved the Lord.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheryl of Albuquerque; his step daughter Amber (Carl) Connett, and their children, Jacob, Joseph, Susanna, and Rebecca, his sisters; Jane (Dave) DuChene of Waverly, Rose (Al) Fredericks of Northwood, a brother: Ron (Linda) Olson of Kasson, Mn., nieces and nephews Melissa (Dave) Shallberg and Annika of Clear Lake, Rob (Stacy) Hagedorn and Syd of Evansdale, Elizabeth DuChene of Des Moines, Tony Fredericks of Northwood, Teri (Jay) Clough and Alexis, Logan, and Mikayla of Lake Mills, Dan (Valerie) Olson and Noah, Elijah, Jonah and Nick Olson of Mason City.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Gerry Olson, a brother; Dave Olson, and a sister; PeggyAnn Olson.
A graveside service will be set at a later date.
