Ivan “Ike” Johnson, age 83, of Osage, died Saturday October 28, 2017, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit in Osage.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, with Pastor David A. Werges and Deacon Elayne J. Werges officiating. Inurnment will be at Rock Creek Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Ivan was born December 12, 1933, at home near Carpenter, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Parker) Johnson. He graduated from Osage High School in 1951 and then served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Ivan was united in marriage to Kathryn Maakestad on February 16, 1957, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. He farmed and was a livestock buyer. Ivan served on the Mitchell County Hospital Board and was a 4-H leader for several years. Ivan was a long-time member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where he was very active. He enjoyed all sports, especially watching all of his grandchildren and their activities.

Ivan is survived by his wife, Kathryn Johnson; children, Bradley Johnson, Steven (Vicki) Johnson, Pamela (Terry) Geistler, Jane (Jeffrey) Michels and Rebecca Low; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Schallock, Mildred Sponheim and Sharon Boyce; brother, Harley Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Susan Kay Johnson; sisters, Florence Borcherding, Margaret Olsen and Carol McLaughlin; brothers, Dale Johnson, Charles Johnson, Kenneth Johnson and Keith Johnson.
