Roger E. Seidel, 56, of Mason City, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Roger Earl Seidel was born December 12, 1960 in Osage, Iowa, to Marcus A. and Arlene L. (Motland) Seidel. He graduated from Mason City High School and then entered into the United States Army where he served his country honorably. He was a part of an airborne unit, completing over 500 jumps and earning the title “Air Master”. Roger was stationed in Italy for over two years. After his discharge Roger came back to Iowa where he began working at Winnebago. Later he worked for Teamster for almost 20 years and later he worked for Seidel Construction, beside his nephew Chad.

Roger was a wonderful story teller, and was able to make conversation with just about anyone. He was very smart. If you ever had a question about a sport, you could always ask Roger and he would have something to teach you. Roger was a youth and adult referee and official for 25 years. He was a huge Twins fan. He enjoyed spending time by the water fishing with the patience to wait for a catch. Roger had a huge heart; he was always looking to help others, even at his own expense. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Harvey (Lois) Seidel of Thermopolis, WY, Rusty (Karen) Seidel of Rockwell and Swaledale, IA, Ann (Jeff) Seidel-Armstrong of Tucson, AZ, Penny (Bob) Bennett of Mason City, and Chad (Alicia) Seidel of Mason City; Uncle Grandpa of Braxton Seidel; nieces and nephews: Keith, Kenny, John, Joe, Billie Joe, Kim, Matt, Lee, Luke, Ross, and Dusty; dear friend, Linda Neuhring; his neighborhood family; as well as his beloved fur kids, Harley, Sirius, Wench, and Chip.

Preceding Roger in death are his parent, Marcus and Arlene Seidel; his grandparents, Ed and Celia Motland, and Charles and Maude Seidel, two brothers, Marvin and Melvin Seidel, and a niece Corey Ann Seidel.
