OSAGE, IOWA - Geneva Rose Hanna, age 90, formerly of Osage, died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Madrid Home for the Aging in Madrid, Iowa. Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 5, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Following services, there will be a time for lunch and fellowship at the church.

Geneva was born September 19, 1926, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Leona (Braun) Marcks. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1944, and from secretarial school in Mankato, Minnesota in 1947. On May 25, 1947, Geneva married William James Hanna at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. They made their home in St. Ansgar before moving to Osage in 1954. She was a bookkeeper at the Co-op Elevators in Carpenter, St. Ansgar and Osage before her retirement in 1988.

Geneva was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Morning Musicale Group and Sunny Brae Country Club. She enjoyed playing Bridge and “500”, golfing, square dancing, ballroom dancing, and traveling, especially trips to Hawaii and Europe. Most importantly, Geneva treasured times spent with family and enjoyed sharing special celebrations with them.

Geneva is survived by her children, Mike (Pam) Hanna of Urbandale, Iowa, and Julie (Russ) Foth of Peoria, Arizona; five grandchildren, Kate (Tim) Westphal, Kelly (Mike) Kohls, Kurt (Beth) Hanna, Jennifer (Jeremy) Wightman, and Jamie (T.J.) Johnson; twelve great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Doug (Rose) Hanna of St. Ansgar, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Hanna in 2012; and one sister, Doris Schmarzo in 1996.
