William Halladay
Died June 14, 2017
William Halladay passed away on Wednesday June 14, 2017 with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Saint Henry’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday June 20, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m.
William Halladay was born on December 12, 1933, to the parents of John Wesley Sr. and Lillian (Charlier) Halladay in Marshalltown, Iowa. William attended Albion High School and later received his G.E.D. but was a well-educated man in all walks of life. William honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Airforce from 1960 until 1964.
After his return from the Airforce William was employed by the Rock Island Rail Road that was soon to become C.N.W. and found himself leaving to work for Amtrack until his retirement. After his retirement William was self-employed running a golf shop in Albion and also in Osage, Iowa. William was a jack of all trades and a master of none. He was very passionate about anything that he found himself doing, whether it be photography, hunting, electrical work, and Golfing. William in his later years was involved in the real estate and rental properties. William’s passion carried over to his family and care for them.
Left to cherish William’s memory is his wife Barbra, children Mervin “Wayne”, Crystal (Troy) Menter, Robert (Glenda) step-children Mark (Deanna) Chisholm, Michael (Deb) Chisholm, Monty (Leslie) Chisholm, Melony (Tony) Hejik, Marty Chisholm, and Matthew Chisholm, and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on both sides, brothers, John “Sam”, and Leslie “Wimp”, and sister Ethel.
William is preceded in death by his first wife Patricia, and his son Wilbur.
