Richard Roby Baer, age 88, of Osage, died Friday, February 3, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Private family services will be held.
Richard Roby “Dick” Baer was born July 25, 1928, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, the son of William J. Baer, Sr. and Margaret (Roby) Baer. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1946. On October 21, 1953, he married Joan Custer at the Church of the Brothern in Somerset.
Dick served in the U.S. Army. In 1957, they moved to the Osage area where they farmed and raised livestock. Dick was a member of the Little Cedar United Methodist Church, Osage Masonic Lodge, and Osage American Legion. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, and traveling throughout the United States.
Dick was a very social person who loved visiting with his many friends and acquaintances. He especially enjoyed the weekly social hour at the Little Cedar United Methodist Church. Time spent with grandchildren was also a source of enjoyment for Dick.
Dick is survived by his wife, Joan “Jo” Baer of Osage; his children, Susan Imler (special friend, Howard Fox) of St. Ansgar, Dan (Julie) Baer of Osage, and Brad (Barbara) Baer of Osage; grandchildren, Shelley Virts, Jayna, Ashley, Britney, Debby, and Ryan Baer, Jessica, Zachary, Adam and Kaitlyn Baer; three great-grandchildren; sister, Jacqueline Coffroth of Seattle, Washington; brother, Thomas (Dorothy) Baer of Somerset, Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Judy Gnagey of Fort Myers, Florida, and Ruth Baer of Everett, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Robert Custer of Somerset, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William J. Baer, Jr.; sister, Betty Baer; brothers-in-law, LeRoy Coffroth and Larry Gnagey; and sister-in-law, Adena “Dee” Custer.
