OSAGE, IOWA - James Alan Grinstead, 86, of Osage, died Sunday January 8, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, is handling arrangements.

James Alan Grinstead, 86, of Osage, Iowa, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Home, Osage.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State Street, Osage, Iowa with Pastor Roy Ott officiating. A private inurnment ceremony will take place at a later date.
Jim was born May 2, 1930, in Osage, Iowa. He was the son of John Harvey and Corrine Pearl (Morse) Grinstead. Jim was the fifth of thirteen children raised on the family farm near Orchard, Iowa. He proudly served his country in an Army MASH unit during the Korean War. Jim married Barbara Ann Witzel in August, 1953 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Jim and Barb raised three children in Osage. Barbara passed away in 2001. Jim married Janet Thorsen in February, 2004. Jim was employed in construction for many years. He was co-owner of Grinstead’s Osage Locker from 1978 until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Jim enjoyed woodworking and raising all kinds of flowers, especially orchids and Christmas cactus. He was a die-hard Hawkeye fan.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, daughter, Sydney Heimer, Osage; sons, Brian (Deb) Grintead, Osage and Bradley (Connie) Grinstead, Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Jason (Bridget) Heimer, Mequan, WI; Laura (Arnie) Potter, Osage; Katie (Chad) Buffington, Osage; Michael Grinstead, Osage; and Taylor Grinstead, Oklahoma City, OK; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Grinstead, Lewiston, ID; Richard Grinstead, Tucson, AZ; and David (Laura) Grinstead, Lewiston, ID; sisters, Dorine (Leslie) Thurnau, Osage; Ruth Johnson, Riceville; Lynda (Joe) Retterath, Eagan, MN; and sister-in-law, Margaret (Evan) Clemmens, Ankeny, IA.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; son-in-law, Dale Heimer; four brothers; and two sisters.
