Sharon Ellingson, 78, of Strasburg, North Dakota, and formerly of Osage, Iowa, died Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Sanford Health in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor David Werges and Diaconal Minister Elayne Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
Sharon was born December 26, 1937, to Gaylord and Ruth (Hvattum) Lunde, Osage, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Osage where she met the love of her life, Larry Ellingson. After graduating from Osage High School, Sharon attended Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa. Sharon and Larry were later united in marriage December 21, 1958, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa. The couple were blessed with three children.
Sharon worked various accounting and secretarial positions throughout her life, and after several moves, Sharon and Larry retired in Strasburg, North Dakota.
Sharon was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, bowling, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Sharon was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Circle and a member of the Eastern Star.
Sharon is survived by her three children, Martin Ellingson (Kris Wilke), Strasburg, North Dakota, Marie Anderson (Daryl Snow), Mankato, Minnesota, David (Renae) Ellingson, Strasburg, North Dakota, nine grandchildren, Brandon Ellingson (Shelby), Lauren (Jeremy) O’Keefe, Clinton (Amee) McDonald, Gregory McDonald, (Melissa), Lindsay (Derrick) Schlangen, Randi Anderson, Raven (Mario) Carroll, Drew Ellingson, and Riley Ellingson, five great- grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Jean Lunde, Osage, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister, Opal, and brother, Glennys Lunde.
