OSAGE — Donald L. Morrison, 93, of Osage, died Friday, October 7, 2016, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 5:30.
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements.

Donald L. Morrison, age 93, of Osage, died Friday, October, 7, 2016, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. . A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage VFW Post 7920. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 5:30.
Donald Lee Morrison was born in rural Mitchell County Iowa on February 13, 1923, to Myron Byrl and Verna (Wamsley) Morrison. After graduating from Orchard High School in 1941, he joined the war effort serving in the navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He was honorably discharged on December 18, 1945. Returning home, he married his sweetheart, Rose Ann Schwab on February 16, 1946. To this union 2 sons were born, Dennis and Donald.
Don owned and operated Don’s D-X and later Don’s Union 76 for over 26 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage Fire Department, The VFW Post 7920, and American Legion Post 278.
Don retired in 1985. Don filled his retirement years gardening, fishing, golfing and wood working. Don and Rose enjoyed walks around town and taking afternoon car rides around the community. In 2003 Rose developed Alzheimer’s. Don spent the first five years of Rose’s illness caring for her at their home and the following 4 years visiting her faithfully every day at the nursing home. After Rose’s death in 2012, Don continued to be a daily visitor to the Faith Nursing Home in Osage until June 2016 when he became a resident.
Don is survived by his sons, Dennis (Julie) Morrison of Osage and Don (Deb) Morrison of Elma; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul (Darleen) Morrison of Kenai Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rose; brother, Max (Leona) Morrison; and two sisters, Eloise Ryan and Esther Kemp.
