Betty D. Koenigs 1931-2016

Betty D. Koenigs, 85, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Spring Valley Senior Living in Spring Valley where she had resided for a short time.

Betty Koenigs was born August 2, 1931, in St Louis, Missouri, to Earl and Ione (Bacon) Balcom. She grew up and attended school through the ninth grade in Grand Meadow and was united in marriage to Ernest “Jocky” Koenigs in 1955 and together lived in McIntire, Iowa, for 37 years before moving to Arizona and California where “Jocky” passed away in March of 2005. In 2006, Betty returned to Grand Meadow where she resided until entering Spring Valley Senior Living in June of 2016. Betty loved to listen to music and always dressed “classy”.

Betty is survived by her children: Judy Madson of Los Angeles, California, Ed (Betty) Madson of Forrest City, Iowa, Bill Koenigs of Riceville, Iowa, Ron Koenigs of Marina Del Ray, California, Robert “Bob” (Carlos Gomez) Koenigs of North Hollywood, California, and Rose Koenigs of Canyon Country, California; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a half-sister, Gloria Gilbert of Austin, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2005, a son; Michael in 1994 and siblings Ruth Stooky, Allen Gilbert and Pat Gilbert.
