McINTIRE, IOWA — Ben M. Stevenson, age 70, of McIntire, Iowa, died April 9, 2016, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the Riceville Country Club in Riceville, Iowa. Burial will be in Wayne Cemetery, McIntire, Iowa, at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016.

Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 407 Woodland Ave., Riceville, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Ben was born June 25, 1945, in Riceville, Iowa, the son of Ben H. and Harriet (Volkart) Stevenson. He graduated from Riceville Community High School in 1963. He enlisted in the US Army from 1969-1971. Ben worked at Behr Iron & Metal (formerly LeRoy Iron & Metal) for 26 years until his death. Ben enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with friends and family (especially his four granddaughters).

On February 3, 1973, Ben was married to Brenda Hockens in McIntire, Iowa, at St. Mel’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include wife, Brenda, of McIntire; three sons, Jamie Stevenson of Woodbury, Minnesota, Brendan (Andrew) Stevenson of Darien, CT, and Jared Stevenson of McIntire, Iowa; four granddaughters, Emma, Sidney, Isabella and Harper; one sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Wherry of Riceville, Iowa; one brother, Richard (Sara) Stevenson of Sheffield, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Ida Rowe of LeRoy, Minnesota; Julie (Rod) Jacobs of Minnetonka, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Jim (Bonnie) Hockens of Oronoco, Minnesota; and many nieces & nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Perry and Vivian Hockens; one brother, William Stevenson; three sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Lockhart, Virginia Stevenson, and Trudie Lienhard; sister-in-law, Sandy Kozak.
