Mikkel (Michael) Golberg Rust Tolleivson (Tollefson) was born in 1806 at Gol, Hallingdal, Buskerud, Norway to Tolleiv Golberg Olson and Guri Sore Ekle Knutsdatter.
Mikkel married Groe Andersdatter on May 12, 1833 at Nes in Hallingdal, Buskerud, Norway. Wedding record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives for Nes in Hallingdal, Buskerud, Norway, 1824-1834, page 800, entry #30. Mikkel Tollefsen, age 26 of Goelberg and Groe Andersdatter, age 24 of Elbjor. Groom's father: Tollef Olsen. Bride's father: Anders Olsen
The couple had 6 children, the oldest 4 born at Buskerud, Norway and the younger 2 born at Rock, Wisconsin:

Anders Mikkelson (b August 26, 1850, married Margith Roe, d April 25, 1903 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.In the spring of 1845, Mikkel, Groe and their four children left Norway to emigrate to America. They left Drammen, Norway and traveled on the ship "Skulda". The ship arrived at New York City on July 16, 1845. The family then traveled west to settle at Rock Prairie, Rock, Wisconsin. Here the two younger children were born.
In 1852, Mikkel traveled with the Rev Claus Clausen and a few other men to Mitchell County, Iowa to explore land. Liking what they saw, they returned to Wisconsin and in the spring of 1853, the Clausen party and several families, including Mikkel's left Wisconsin to move to Mitchell County, Iowa. Mikkel settled on farmland north of St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
In 1855, he was issued a land deed from the U S Government office at Fort Des Moines for 40 acres in Section 13, 99N, 18W, 5th PM Mitchell, Iowa.
He was also issued a land deed from the U S Government office at Fort Des Moines for 160 acres in Section 13, 99N, 18W, 5th PM, Mitchell, IA.Family found in the 1856 -1870 censuses living on their farm at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa:

Mikkel Tollefson died September 19, 1872 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
