Funeral services for Carl Halverson, 69, were held Monday, September 27, at the Champion Funeral Home and at the Osage Lutheran Church with the Rev. T.P. Solem in charge. Burial was made in the First Lutheran cemetery in St. Ansgar. Mr. Halverson died quietly in his sleep Friday night, September 24th.

Carl Alfred Halverson was born June 7, 1879, in Floyd County, Iowa, to Asle and Torine Olson Halverson. At the age of two his mother died. His grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Borre Olson then took him and his older brother in to their home to raise. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by the Rev. Olsen of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

On February 26, 1901, he was united in marriage to Sedsel Evenson at the Osage Lutheran Church by the Rev. J. A. Urness. For eleven years they made their home on a farm seven miles west of Osage. From there they moved to a farm three and one-half miles south of St. Ansgar where they lived 23 years. On March 16, 1936, Mrs. Halverson died of cancer and since then he made his home with relatives.

To this union were born nine children: Conrad of Taopi, Minnesota, Bentley of McIntire, Harold of Osage, Martin Eugene, who died in infancy, Mrs. Milly Neuberger of Klemme, Mrs. Evelyn Brown of Waverly, Mrs. Marian Smalley of Riceville, Mrs. Jeanette Halvorson of St. Paul, and Olga, with whom he has made his home for the last three years.

In February 1947, Mr. Halverson suffered blood poisoning due to an infection from a sliver in his hand and although he recovered from this, his health had declined since this incident.

Surviving are five daughters, three sons and nineteen grandchildren. He is also survived by a half-sister, Mrs. Roy Olson of Cosmos, Minnesota, and two half-brothers, George of Litchfield, Minnesota, and Edward of Washington.
