Mrs. Bertha Knapp

OSAGE, IOWA - Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Knapp, age 91, who died at her Osage home Thursday morning, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Little Cedar United Methodist Church. The Rev. George Hope, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Osage, and the Rev. Bud Wilder, of Little Cedar United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Little Cedar Cemetery.

The Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bertha Mills was born August 2, 1882, at Willesten, N.Y., the daughter of Charles W. and Lucy Peck Mills. She came with her family to Osage and was graduated from the Osage High School in 1901. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and later taught in the Little Cedar Community.

She was married in 1904 to Ernest Knapp, and the couple farmed south of Little Cedar until 1947, when they moved into Little Cedar. Mr Kanpp died in 1964, and she has since made her home with her brother in Osage.

Mrs. Knapp was correspondent for the Mitchell County Press-News and Riceville Recorder for many years.

Survivors include three sons: DeVere, of Mclntire, Kenneth, of Little Cedar, and Carroll, of Boise, Idaho; two brothers, Asa Mills, of Osage, with whom she made her home; and Francis Mills, of Bellingham, Washington; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren,

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
