Loren B. Larson, age 83, of Osage, died Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor David A. Werges and Diaconal Minister Elayne J. Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Loren was born October 16 1931, in rural Rudd, Iowa, the son of Bert and Rose (Cannon) Larson. He graduated from Rudd High School in 1950. Loren served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On July 11, 1958, he married Altje Larson in Bode, Iowa. They farmed near Osage, and started Larson’s Hardware Hank in 1979. In his retirement years, Loren continued to be active in farming and in the hardware store.

He was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, the Osage American Legion, and a former longtime member of the Mitchell County Fair Board. Loren enjoyed fishing, golfing, mushroom hunting, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Loren is survived by his wife, Altje Larson of Osage; his daughter, Carolyn “Carrie” (Steve) Bremer of Osage and children, Brad (Katrina) Bremer, Chris (Erin) Bremer, and Jordan (Talia) Bremer; his daughter, Joyce (Dar) Ruehlow of Osage and children, Blake (Emily) Ruehlow, Marcus (Brittany) Ruehlow, and Jade Ruehlow and friend, Evan Beshey; his daughter, Audra (Gale) McKinney of Fort Dodge and children, Kaylee Cordle, Adyson McKinney, Aaron (Michele) McKinney, Krystal (Aaron) Davidson, and Patrick (Lindsey) McKinney. Loren and Altje have also been blessed by many great-grandchildren.

Loren is also survived by his sister, Phyllis (James) Gunsallus of Osage; his brother, Marvin (Janis) Larson of Rudd; cousin and friend, Donald (Barbara) Larson of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and their wives, Gordon (Margie) Larson and Russell (Delores) Larson; and nephews, Lon Larson and Kevin Gunsallus.
