Fred G. Dieterich , age 92, of Osage, died Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2015, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor David A. Werges and Diaconal Minister Elayne J. Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Fred G. Dieterich was born July 27, 1923, on the family farm in Floyd County, Iowa. He was the son of George and Wilma (Erdmann) Dieterich. Fred was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, southwest of Osage. He attended rural school and graduated from Orchard High School in 1941. After graduation, Fred worked on the family farm and served his country in the Army Air Corps.

On November 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to Ardis Maakestad at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. This marriage was blessed with three sons, Maurice, Michael and Jim. Fred and Ardis farmed in the St. Ansgar area until 1987, when they retired and moved to Osage. Fred and Ardis enjoyed their family and going to see their grandchildren in all their activities. Fred also appreciated his many friends and neighbors.

Fred is survived by his son, Maurice (Dianne) Dieterich of Shelby Township, Michigan, and their sons, Nathan (Kathleen) and Nikolas (Keri) and their daughter, Ava; his son, Michael Dieterich of Burlington and his sons, Gregory and Matthew; his son, Jim (Ruth) Dieterich of Galesburg, Illinois, and their children, William, Joel and Kristina. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, Gene (Barbara) Maakestad of Osage; one niece; three nephews; and one sister-in-law, Betty Dieterich of Osage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ardis Dieterich in 2011; and one brother, Hubert Dieterich.
