DIES SUDDENLY AT
HOME, NEW HAVEN

News of the sudden death of Mrs. John Kirst was a great shock to the people of the New Haven community. Death came early Friday evening only a few minutes after she had informed her husband and son that she wasn't feeling well.

Anna Marie Meyer-Kirst was born July 20, 1877, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Meyer, on a farm southeast of New Haven.

On June 7, 1905 she was married to John Kirst and they established their home on a farm one mile east of New Haven. To them five children were born.

She is survived by her husband and three daughters: Mrs. Walter Hanna (Viola), Nora Springs; Mrs. Leo Lockwood (Mary), and Mrs. Harold Coonradt (Veronica) both of New Haven; two sons, Joseph of New Haven and Leonard who is employed in Charles City. Also surviving are four sisters: Mrs. Frank Engels, Pasadena, California; Mrs. Mary Rivers, of New Haven; Mrs. Howard Morse, Charles City; and Mrs. Hugh Murray, Nora Springs. Also six brothers: Matt, of Wolverton, Minnesota; Steve of Charles City; Joe, John, Pete and William, all of new Haven. She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Three sisters: Mrs. Christina Morse, Elizabeth Meyer and Mrs. Lena Gilles, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Kirst, a devout Catholic and Christian mother, was well known in the community, having lived there all her life. In her youth she taught piano and directed the choirs of St. Peter's and St. Cecelia parishes. She was an active member of the Ladies Altar society; Women's Benefit association Lodge and played a great part in church and community affairs.

Funeral services were held in st. Peter's church Monday, with the Rev. Father Mayer in charge. Interment was in St. Peter's cemetery.

Friends and relatives from out of town attending the services were: Matt Meyer and Mrs. Conrad Hansen of Wolverton, Minnesota; Maurice Britz of Chicago; Harry Theis of Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Reicherts of New Hampton; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rivers and daughter of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Will Spurbeck of Ionia; Mrs. A.M. Choate and Mrs. Wilma Graney of Nora Springs; Mr. and Mrs. M. McDonald and Mrs. Elmer Nelson, all of Burt; and Mrs. Leon Green and children of Mason City.
