Sylvia Bratrud, age 80, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Providence Place in Minneapolis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor David A. Werges and Diaconal Minister Elayne J. Werges officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

Sylvia was born March 16, 1935, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Dr. Rev. Milton and Claire (Motland) Bratrud. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and Mayville State University in Mayville, North Dakota. Sylvia was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She had many hobbies and interests which included knitting, writing poetry and lyrics to songs, going to the Mall of America, riding around the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, and collecting magnets.

Sylvia is survived by her brother, Lowell Bratrud of Richfield, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lois Duna and Grace Peleaux.
