Roger Arthur Bartz, age 71, of Osage, died Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Roger was born October 24, 1943, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Anna (Broers) Bartz. He graduated from Osage High School in 1962. On March 19, 1967, Roger married Beverly Neeley at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970. Roger worked at the Oliver Factory in Charles City until starting farming near Riceville in 1971. In 1974, Roger and Beverly moved to a farm near Osage where they were still living and farming. He was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a member of the Osage American Legion. Roger’s favorite hobby was collecting farm toys.

Roger is survived by his wife, Beverly of Osage; their three children, Julie (Dan) Baer of Osage, Angela (Terry) McEachran of Nora Springs, and Jennifer (Luke) Irvin of Osage; nine grandchildren, Jayna, Ashley, Britney, Debby, Ryan, Taylor, Paige, Elizabeth and Brooke; sisters, LaVerna Marion of Aurora, Illinois, and Phyllis Solomon of Omaha, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and brothers, Otto “Buddy” Bartz and Harold Bartz.
