Elina Pedersdatter was born March 23, 1863 at Grinaekereiet in Gran, Hadeland, Oppland, Norway to Peder Torstensen and Kari Eriksdatter Svenserud, the youngest of their three daughters. Her two older sisters were: Ragnild Dammen Halvorson and Ingeborg Halvorson Horgen.

Elina was baptized on April 5, 1863 at Gran, Oppland, Norway. Birth/baptismal record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives for Gran, Oppland, Norway, 1856-1874, page 232, entry #101. Sponsors listed.

In 1882, Elina left Norway with her parents to emigrate to Mitchell County, Iowa.

She married Ole Hetland in 1884 at Mitchell County, Iowa. Do not know if they had any children.

Found in the 1900 - 1910 censuses living at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa:
1900: Ole Hetland 46, Elina Hetland 37, Bridget Riley 70.

1905: Elina Hetland age 42.

1910: Ole Hetland 56, Elina Hetland 47.

Elina Hetland died on December 20, 1918 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
