(Died April 10, 2015)

After a long fight against illness, John’s appointed days were completed and he went ahead to meet his Lord and Savior. John was surrounded by his family every day for the last weeks before he slipped away in peace on Friday, April 10, 2015. He was 69 years old and loved.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at the Osage Cemetery with Pastor Gary Gilbert and Pastor Jim Stern officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral home in Osage, Iowa. Following the graveside service, there will be a reception at the Osage Alliance Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like any memorials to support THE IVATAN JESUS FILM PROJECT in the Philippines, a project Andrew and Melissa Reichenbacher are involved in as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Please make checks payable to: Osage Alliance Church.

John was born on August 19, 1945 in Aurora, Illinois, to Adolph and Phyllis (Johnson) Reichenbacher. He graduated from East Aurora High School in 1963. John served in the U.S. Navy. He married Nancy Jean Stewart on October 19, 1968, in Aurora, Illinois.

John’s love of farming started in his youth as he worked every day with his cousin Bill Reichenbacher. In Aurora, John and Nancy bought a small acreage which they farmed for a few years. Then in 1974, with two youngsters in tow, they moved to the Osage area where they bought a farm outside of Little Cedar. They were grain and livestock farmers. Together they had three children, William, Jennifer and Andrew.

John was a simple man that loved the country and farming with his Farmall tractors. He always had the farming itch to be in the field and loved the land that he farmed. Together, John and Nancy eventually became certified organic farmers.

Besides his love of farming, he also enjoyed evening bike rides as well as the railroad. While in his younger years, he worked for the railroad and was also a printer.

John was a member of the Osage Alliance Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jean Reichenbacher; his parents, Adolph and Phyllis; and other extended family.

John is survived by his son, Bill (Aimee) Reichenbacher of Hampton, Iowa, and children, Ed, Brienna and John; his daughter, Jenn (Kris) Beam of Long Lake, Minnesota, and children, Emmy, Lilly and Addie; and his son, Andrew (Melissa) Reichenbacher of the Philippines and children, Vivian, Anna and Alli; his sister, Shirley (Jim) Slingo and nephews, Eric (Nicole) Mantzke and Aaron (Eli Burgos) Mantzke, all of Florida; loving cousins and many faithful friends.

OSAGE, IOWA - John Robert Reichenbacher, 69, of Osage died Friday, April 10, 2015, in Hampton.
