Location: Sacred Heart CemeteryStacyville, Iowa - Harry May was born on September 10, 1951, to Edmund and Irma (Smith) in Osage, Iowa. He graduated from St. Ansgar Community High School in 1969. Harry served his country from 1970 to 1972 in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany.
Harry Alfred May, 63, died on March 23, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.
Harry married Susan Piper on August 30, 1975 in Meyer, Iowa. Harry and Sue farmed and raised their family west of Meyer on the same farm he was raised. Harry milked cows, raised hogs and crop farmed for 42 years. He enjoyed good conversation, good food, family and friends and numerous fishing trips. He was a member of the American Legion and Visitation Catholic Church.
Harry cared very deeply for his family and especially loved his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Mary Theresa.
Harry is survived by his wife, Susan; four children: Cassie (Troy) Hanna of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Hillary May of North Liberty, Iowa, Gabe (Amy) May of Stacyville, Skyler (Emily) May of Sheffield, Iowa; grandchildren: Harrison, Maverick and Scarlett Hanna, Hadley and Brylee May, Brexton May; brother, Duane (Helen) May; sisters, Sr. Janet May and Audrey (Ralph) Wolf; many nieces and nephews.
