RICEVILLE, IOWA - William Martin, age 79, of Riceville passed away on February 4, 2015, at Mission, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, with the Rev. Steve Garner officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville.

Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before services at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Obituary:
William Martin, age 79, of Riceville, Iowa, passed away on February 4, 2015 at Mission, Texas.

William was born in Osage, Iowa, to Cyril Lloyd and Ruth Catherine (Rodgers) Martin on July 25, 1935. He attended local schools and graduated from McIntire High School in 1953. William was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Klaes on September 21, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. He served his country in the U.S. Army from November 17, 1955 to August of 1957. They began a family and farming in 1959 on the family century farm. He was a member of NFO, and Knights of Columbus.

Due to a farming accident on August 3, 1971 life as he knew it changed. His life revolved around his family and animals. Through the years they enjoyed vacations together spending the winters in Texas and dancing became a big part of his life.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of Riceville, a son Mark and his wife Lori of Decorah, Iowa, Patty Martin of Mason City, Iowa, Phyllis Lodge of Knoxville, Iowa, Pamela and her husband Duane Beard of Indianola, Iowa, Elaine and her husband Rod Gerbig of Stacyville, Iowa, and Ann and her husband Bruce Flatjord of New Hampton, Iowa. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a sister Mary Fass of Houston, Texas.

William was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Stephanie Lodge, and a brother Kenneth.

Visitation:
Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Monday during the hours of 4 – 7 P.M. and one hour before services at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Service:
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 10 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, with Rev. Steve Garner officiating.

Cemetery:
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville.
