Riceville, Iowa — John Nath, 62, long-time Riceville resident, died at Cedar Valley Hospital, Charles City, Sunday, during an operation for ulcers. He was taken to the hospital Friday for treatment and died without warning during the operation. He had been about his work as city policeman and superintendent of streets until the day he entered the hospital.
He was born May 30, 1889, at Dysart, Iowa, the son of John and Minnie Nath. He came with his parents to a farm near Lime Springs when a young man and operated the home farm for a number of years, then moved to Riceville.
He married Lela Dehrkoop on February 20, 1913.
He leaves widow; a daughter, Mrs. Kermit Nelson, Riceville; an adopted son, Donald, Waterloo; also six grandchildren; five brothers: Henry, Toeterville; Harry, Lime Springs; George, Waterloo; Louis, Forest City; Walter, Riceville; two sisters, Mrs. Nick Jurgens, La Porte City, and Mrs. Harold Williams, Gifford.
The funeral was held Tuesday.
