Ann Marie Nelson (Nilsen) was born February 26, 1877 at Bjornhaugen, Oppland, Norway to Mathias Nielsen and Johanna Gulbrandsdatter, the third of their six children.

Ann emigrated to America in May 1877 with her parents. Emigration record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives for Biri, Oppland, Norway, 1877-1886, page #360, entry #23: Mathias Nielsen Bjornhaugen; Johanna Gulbrandsdatter; #25 Netta Mathiasdatter; #26 Emil Gustaf Mathiasen; #27 Anne Maria Mathiasdatter. The family settled at Mitchell County, Iowa.

Found in the 1880 & 1885 censuses living at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa:
1880: Mathias Nelson 39, Jane Nelson 35, Netty Nelson 13, Eddie Nelson 6, Mary Nelson 3, Anny Nelson 11 mos.

1885: Mathias Nelson 43, Jennie Nelson 39, Nellie Nelson 19, Edward Nelson 10, Mary Ann Nelson 7, Anna Nelson 5, Minnie Nelson 3, Anton Nelson 1.

Ann married James Grant Cameron (b May 1866 Iowa, d 1903 Iowa) in 1897 at Iowa. The couple had 2 children:
Gladys Pearl Cameron (b 1899) and

James N (b 1900).

Found in the 1900 census living at Sherman, Grayson, Texas: Jas G Cameron 34, Mary Cameron 23, Pearl Cameron 1, James N Cameron 3 mos.

After James' death, Anne's second marriage was to Gilbert Johnson Dammen on December 31, 1904 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa.

The couple had 5 children:
Cora (b 1903);
Karl Gilman (b 1906);
Edwin R (b 1909);
Alton L (b 1912) and
Laura M (b 1914).

Gilbert has also been previously married.

Found in the 1905 census living at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: Mary Dammen age 28.

1920: Gilbert J Dammen 59, Maria Dammen 42, Cora S F Dammen 18, Carl G Dammen 13, Edwin R Dammen 11, Alton L Dammen 7, Laura M Dammen 5.

Anne Dammen died January 18, 1921 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa beside her first husband, James Cameron.
