ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Violet “Vi” May Clausen, 77, of St. Ansgar, died on Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating.

Burial will take place at a later time.

Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, Iowa. 641-713-4920. www.schroederandsites.com .

Vi was born on August 6, 1937 in Mason City, Iowa to Leroy and Beatrice (Ketchum) Holding. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Delmar Clausen October 14, 1956. Vi worked at Sears in clothing and retail sales.

She became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her two children. Vi went back to work at Sears for a few years then in the 70”s opened her dream shop, Calico Country Crafts & Antiques in Mason City, which she ran for 10 years. Many customers became good friends for her. She had a good eye and enjoyed decorating people’s houses with a country and antique look.

After the closing of her store, she sold carpet at Sears. In 1991 she moved up on the Cedar River. She then worked several years at Walgreen’s in the card department, helping people find that perfect card. Vi enjoyed and loved her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Archie Holding; a sister, Betty Frenz.

Vi is survived by her husband Delmar of St. Ansgar; a son Curtis (Tammy) Clausen of Manly, Iowa; a daughter, Candee (John) Hunchis of Northwood, Iowa; four grandchildren; Hannah and Molly Hunchis and Jess and Jewel Clausen; brother, Bob (Kathy) Grant of Mason City, Iowa.
