CARTER, Jesse G. [1891-c1966]

Funeral Services for a former Osage resident, Jesse Carter, 75 of Cresco, who died Sunday, were held here Tuesday. Mr. Carter had been in ill failing health the past two years and recently returned after spending two months at a Mason City hospital. He died at his home.

The Rev. Robert Smith, pastor of the Methodist church in Osage, was in charge of the services, at the Champion funeral home. Burial was in the
Osage Cemetery.

Jesse G. Carter was born July 11, 1891 in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, the son of George A. and Nellie Clark Carter.

He was married June 19, 1913, to Blanche Jeffries. She died Sept. 29, 1945. His marriage to Mary Wilhelm took place in Nashua, Dec. 5, 1956. They made their home in Cresco.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary, one son Lennie V. Carter of Britt; one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Coonradt (Ruby) of Des Moines; one foster son, Frank J. Wallace of Waterloo; two brothers, Ray of Osage and Vern of Graettinger; one sister, Mrs. Cecil Carter (Millie) of Folsom, Calif., and eight grandchildren. He also leaves four step-children, Hazel Ostrander and Lester Wilhelm of Houston Texas; Vera Enright of Colville, Wash., and Charles Wilhelm of Fremont, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, an infant son, his parents, one brother and one sister.
