CARPENTER, IOWA - Alan Eugene Stehn, 50, died Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating.
Burial will be in the Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

#2:CARPENTER, IOWA - Alan Eugene Stehn, 50, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2014, at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, Iowa, with burial in the church cemetery.
Alan was born November 30, 1963, to Russell and Mavis (Floy) Stehn at Park Hospital in Mason City. He graduated from St. Ansgar Community Schools in 1981 and from Austin Technical Institute, Austin, Minnesota, in 1987. Alan started his career in the computer field with State Farm Insurance, moved on to Principal Financial, Buccaneer Computer Systems and Service, and finally General Dynamics Information Technology.
Alan had diabetes most of his life. Alan was fortunate to receive a donated kidney and pancreas in May 2014, which gave him a new lease on life. Alan was a perfect example of never giving up. Alan maintained a positive attitude through it all.
Alan is survived by siblings: Richard, San Jose, California; Susan (Tim) Johnson, West Des Moines, Iowa; Charles, Evansdale; Diana, Jefferson; Linda (Dan) Kohlhaas, Ankeny; Patricia (Dennis) Torgeson, Mason City. Nephews: Chris (Debra) Johnson; Matthew and Ryan, Rochester; Scott (Cassie) Johnson, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Also surviving are numerous cousins around the country, four aunts, two uncles and friends.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents Adolph and Mable Stehn; maternal grandparents John and Pearl Floy; four cousins, two aunts, six uncles, and a great-niece.
