STACYVILLE, IOWA - Therese J. Johnson, 84, of Stacyville, died Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 28, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Visitation Catholic Church where a rosary will be at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 6:30 p.m.

STACYVILLE, IOWA - Therese Julia Johnson, 84, of Stacyville died peacefully Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with the Rev. Raymond Burkle and Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Burial was at the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville.

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Visitation Catholic Church with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 6:30 p.m. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

Therese Julia Johnson was born in Stacyville on March 25, 1930, to Nick and Rose (Wallrich) Streit.

Therese graduated from Visitation Catholic High School and Gates Business College in Waterloo. She then relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she worked for a telephone company. Later, she returned to lowa, where she worked at the courthouse in Osage. She married Marvin (Cap) Johnson in 1955, and moved to the family farm in Stacyville shortly thereafter. Therese stayed home while raising their seven children and later started working at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

She later worked at the St. Ansgar State Bank in Stacyville as a teller, where she stayed until retirement. She actively volunteered at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home and Visitation Catholic Church following retirement. Therese was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, and songbirds. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Therese is survived by her seven children: Chris (Sony) Johnson of Stacyville, their children Richard and Angela; Steve (Julie) Johnson of Osage, their children Paul (Anna) Johnson (their children, Everett and Amelia), Sarah, and Mary; Jim (Teresa) Johnson of Grinnell, their daughter Jennifer (Cody) Grant; Don (Marti) Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Laura (Jeff) Fjelstul of Pawnee, Illinois, their children Amanda, Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Benjamin; Bob (Tracie) Johnson of Altoona, their son Collin; and David (Dana) Johnson of Higginsville, Missouri, their children Spencer, Lily, and Sam; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Rose Streit; husband, Marvin Johnson; brother Leo and his wife Dorothy; brother John; sister Esther Russell and her husband Al; sister Marcella Koenigs and her husband Wilfred.
