Orin Krogstad was born March 4, 1906, at Enderlin, Ramson, North Dakota, to Oscar Ludvig Krogstad and Laura Staff, the second of their ten children. Orin never married, no children.

Orin H Krogstad died December 26, 1967 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

Obituary from Waterloo Courier:

Services for Orin H. Krogstad, 51, widely known steam engine collector who died Tuesday at the Osage Hospital of leukemia, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church; burial in Osage Cemetery; Chamption Funeral Home in charge.

Survived by four sisters: Mrs. Alice Witt of Mason City, Lorna of Cedar Falls, Mrs. J. I. Anderson of Minneapolis and Mrs. Carl E. Duenow of St. Ansgar; two brothers: Lloyd and Glen, both of Osage. He was a farmer and antique collector.
