Pernille (Nellie) Knudsen was born September 13, 1888 at Lincoln, Mitchell, Iowa to Ole Knudsen and Kari Olsdatter, the seventh of their eleven children. Nellie was baptized on November 5, 1888 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Found in the 1895 - 1910 censuses living on a farm at Lincoln, Mitchell, Iowa:
1895: Nellie Knudsen age 5.

1900: Ole Knudson 46, Carrie Knudson 54, Carl Knudson 20, Oscar Knudson 19, Peter Knudson 14, Herman Knudson 12, Nellie Knudson 11, Julian Knudson 8, Laura Knudson 6.

1910: Peter Adolf Knudsen 25, Oscar Knudson 28, Nellie (Pernille) Knudsen 21.

Nellie married John Guvarie Markham (1889-1964) between 1910-1914 at Mitchell Co, Iowa.

The couple had 2 sons, Kenneth and Donald.

1915: Nellie Markham age 26.

1920: John G Markham 31, Nellie Markham 31, Kenneth Markham 3.

1925: John G Markham 36, Nellie Markham 36, Kenneth Markham 8.

1930: John Markham 41, Nellie Markham 41, Kenneth Markham 14, Donald Markham 2.

Found in the 1940 census at Otranto, Mitchell, Iowa: John G Markham 51, Nellie Markham 51, Kenneth J Markham 23, Donald R Markham 12.

Nellie Markham died December 30, 1989 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
