(Died June 12, 2014)

Grace Jeanette Wagner, age 96, of Osage and formerly of Riceville, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Cremation has taken place.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.

Grace was born March 20, 1918, in LeRoy, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Rose (Sternburg) Backhaus. She went to school in LeRoy for eight years. Grace took care of children while their mothers worked. She loved kids. Grace also worked in the LeRoy poultry plant in the winter.

She met Glenn Wagner and they were married on July 16, 1938. They lived in LeRoy for many years. They had one daughter, Sharon Lee. They moved to Riceville and lived there for ten years. During that time, Grace joined St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville and was baptized. They then moved to Osage where she and Glenn retired. Grace was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Sharon L. Lynch of Osage; two grandchildren, Mark (Kris) Lynch of Ware, Massachusetts, and Cheryl (Tony) Woodman of West Brookfield, Massachusetts; three great-grandchildren, Krista (Jesse) Sorel of Rochester, New Hampshire, Josh Lynch of Ware, Massachusetts, and Ashley Woodman of Worcester, Massachusetts; one great-great-granddaughter, Kali Sorel; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Wagner in 2011; sisters, Pearl Duryee, Eldora Benson, Bernice Rassmuson, Betty Waldemar and Florence Powell; and brother, Richard Backus.

Grace Jeanette Wagner, age 96, of Osage and formerly of Riceville, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Those attending the service are welcome to bring lawn chairs.
