Oscar Bernhard (Barnhart) Johnson was born August 14, 1876 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Ole Helgesen Johnson and Berthe Jensdatter, the eighth of their ten children.

Oscar was baptized at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on September 24, 1876. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr & Mrs Martin Jensen; Eberhard Hansen and Rachel Nag.

Oscar died February 8, 1877 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
