Funeral services were held Saturday, November 8, 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage for Mrs. Grace Hofler, 89, of Nora Springs. Rev. J. Sullivan of Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford officiated, and burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery, Osage. Mrs. Hofler died on Wednesday, November 6, 1986 at her home.
She was the daughter of Fletcher and Laura (Henry) Forbes, born February 20, 1897 at West Plains, Missouri. She moved to Rock Grove Township in Floyd County as a child, and attended Nora Springs schools, and graduated from Nora Springs Seminary. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and taught in rural Nora Springs and area schools.
On June 22, 1920, she married Edward C. Hofler in Osage, Iowa. They farmed northeast of Nora Springs for many years, until retiring in 1978 and moving to Nora Springs. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, and the Catholic Daughters of America, Mason City.
Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Reginald (Patricia) Little of Fort Myers, Florida, Mrs. Larry (Frances) Christiansen of St. Ansgar, mrs. Robert (Marcella) Howe of Charles City, Mrs. Robert (Aline) Sutton of Medford, Oregon, and Mrs. Arthur (Anita) Gerk of Mason City; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1979, two brothers and by two sisters.
