FUNERAL RITES HELD
FOR ANTON LIBERSKY
SATURDAY AFTERNOONBy Mrs. Lena Nesset
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon for Anton Libersky from the Methodist church here with the Rev. H.F. Risse in charge. Mr. Libersky died November 2, following a paralytic stroke.
Anton Libersky, an old time resident of St. Ansgar, suddenly answered the call of death on Tuesday, October 31, 1939. Mr. Libersky was in apparent good health and his unexpected death came as a shock to his family and friends. He had dressed himself Tuesday morning, preparatory to his duties of the day when he suffered a stroke from which he quietly slept away at 9:30 in the same evening.
Mr. Libersky was a native of Bohemia, having been born at Guttenburg, August 8, 1860. However, imbued with the spirit of adventure and opportunities abundant in the New World, at the age of 20 he bade farewell to his home country and set sail for America.
He obtained employment in New York City, spending nine years in this great metropolis. The call of the open country was more than he could overcome, so in 1889 he came to Iowa where he established a reputation as a successful Iowa farmer. He spent the remained of his life in his adopted state with the exception of seven years which was spend in Scio, Oregon.
In 1884 he married Julia Morovek, who was a faithful helpmate, and working together heriocally they established a fine home to which was added a loving group of nine children.
Anton Libersky was well known in this community. He lived on a farm, five and one-half miles northeast of St. Ansgar for 15 years. He also lived on a farm in Otranto township for a goodly number of years. Since 1922 he made his home in St. Ansgar.
Mr. Libersky was a quiet unassuming person who personified the sacred laws of integrity, honesty and brotherly love. He was a loyal citizen, a kind father and a devoted husband. He was a great out-of-doors man where he expressed his faith in the infinite in the midst of his beautiful flowers, his garden vegetables grown for provision and happiness of his family and friends. May it be his good lot to be found in the world to which he has gone in the midst of God's flowers and heavenly children.
He was preceded in death by the little bud that wilted in infancy and two sons, Edward and Vaney, who met their death in the airplane tragedy that took place on the 4th of July, 1934. This tragedy left an open wound in the father's heart and let us hope that it is now healed as he joins company with his departed children in the happiness of the Great Home Beyond.
To mourn his going Mr. Libersky leaves, namely; his devoted and sorrowing wife, Julia; his sons, Joe, Lyle, Mn; Frank and Charles of Otranto township; John of St. Ansgar; his daughters, namely, Mrs. Louis Volney of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Carl Nelson of Otranto township; a half-brother, Louis Libersky of Bloomer, Wis., a sister who lives in South Dakota, a number of relatives in the country of his birth, and in addition 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, to which may truly be added number less distant relatives and appreciative friends.
