NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - M. Jean Moeller, 92, of Nora Springs, died Monday, January 13, 2014, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral service for Jean will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Rudd Eden Presbyterian Church, 3105 Glass Avenue, Rudd, with Pastor Jenny Suydam officiating. Burial will follow in the Eden Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Rudd.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Saturday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa, 323 2nd Street S.E., Mason City.

Margaret Jean Moeller, daughter of Arthur and Elmira (Roberts) Shanks, was born September 3, 1921, in rural Rudd, Iowa. She attended school in Rudd and graduated with the Class of 1939. On September 22, 1940, she was united in marriage to Paul G. Moeller and to this union, two children were born: Nancy and Dale. The family lived in rural Rudd where Jean was a homemaker all of her life, helping Paul with the farming operation and raising their children. Paul died in 1979.

Jean loved spending time with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in the many sports they were involved in. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, quilting, china painting, and scrapbooking. She was very detailed oriented and organized in record keeping.

She was a member of the Eden Presbyterian Church in rural Rudd where she was active in playing the organ for many years.

She will be missed by her daughter, Nancy Janssen of Rudd; son, Dale (Leslie) Moeller of Severna Park, Maryland; 3 grandsons, James “Jim” (Lori) Janssen of Floyd, Iowa, Adam (Casey) Moeller of Conshohawken, Pa., and Aaron (Amy) Moeller of Annapolis, Maryland; three great-grandsons and two great-great-granddaughters and her sister-in-law, Careldena “Toddy” Shanks of Nora Springs along with nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, husband, son-in-law, Francis Janssen; grandson, Gary Janssen; one brother and three sisters.
