RITES HELD FOR
ELMER CHURNESS

Funeral services for Elmer Churness, 89?, of Osage, Iowa, were held here Saturday afternoon. Mr. Churness died at the Osage Nursing Home Thursday. He had made his home there for the past several years.

Rev. R. Floy, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home, and burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Elmer Churness was born at Ferryville, Wisconsin, on August 16, 1882, the son of Ole and Ablone Churness. His baptism and confirmation took place at the Prairie Lutheran Church at Ferryville.

Mary Thompson and Elmer Churness were married in 1904, and they came to Osage to make their home, in 1915. He had been a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osage.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mary, and by two sons, Theron and Gerald.

Surviving are one son, Earl, who makes his home at the Iowa Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown; and nieces and nephews.
