CARDEN, CLEGG, JOHNSTON

MRS. N. CARDEN
DIED THURSDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Nelle Carden, 86, were held here Monday afternoon. Mrs. Carden, a resident of the Lincoln Colonial apartments, had been ill since November 1, 1971, and she died at Faith Home on December 23, 1971.

Rev. W. Gjerde, pastor of the United Methodist church, was in charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Nelle Clegg was born in Louisa county, Iowa, on November 29, 1885, the daughter of Alex and Isabelle Johnston Clegg. She grew to womanhood there and was graduated from the Winfield high school She taught in the rural schools in that area.

Jean B. Carden and Nelle Clegg were married in 1907. All of their married life was spent in Osage. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church.

Mrs. Carden is survived by two sons, Hubert of Omaha and Jean, Jr. of Glenview, Illinois; one grandchild, and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, who died in 1960; her parents; and one sister, Blanche.
