Lydia (Van Slyke) Nemire – July 15, 1827 – June 6, 1916

Lydia Van Slyke, the daughter of John S. and Lydia (Marenus) Van Slyke was born 15 Jul 1827 most likely in Otego, Otsego Co., NY. She married Peter Nemire on 7 Mar 1848 in Durhamville, Madison Co., NY. They lived in Lenox, NY prior to their moved by 1854 to Richland, Jones Co., IA following her brother, Christopher Van Slyke.

By 1857 the family was in Winona, MN. Her husband died in the Civil War and is buried in IL. Lydia lived with different family members in Rock Co., MN and Howard Co., IA.

She died 6 Jun 1916 at the home of her daughter, Dianna Irvin, in Riceville, IA.

She is buried in the Saratoga Cemetery near her father, John S. Van Slyke.
