HOWARD TIREMAN

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for an Osage man, Howard Tireman, 59, who died March 10, 1971 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. Cause of his death was a malignancy. he had been hospitalized about one week and had been ill for the past several months.

Rev. L. Norris, pastor of the Congregational church in Osage was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home. The memorial squad of the American Legion Post conducted the military rites at the Osage cemetery.

Howard Leonard Tireman was born on a farm near Orchard, on March 17, 1911, the son of William Benjamin and Mary Mangrick Tireman. He attended the Burr Oak schools.

Florence Amy and Howard Tireman were married on April 30, 1949. Osage has remained their home.

He was inducted into the army and served in the European theater where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster. On receiving his discharge from the service he was employed by Howard Penney of Little Cedar. In 1949 he began his employment with the Mitchell county highway department, retiring from his position on January 1, due to ill health.

Surviving are his wife, Florence; a son, Phillip of Osage; and one niece, Mrs. George Pease (Cynthia) of Cedar Rapids.

His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
