FUNERAL HELD FOR
MRS. ALICE WELLS, 80

Funeral services were held January 23, 1971, in Vinton, Iowa, for Mrs. Alice Wells, 80, who died January 18, 1971 following a short illness.

Alice Bower was born November 18, 1890, at Farmersburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jacob F. and Caroline Renner Bower. In 1893 she moved with her parents to a farm near Osage where she grew to womanhood. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in New Haven in 1909 and taught in the rural schools. She also attended Gates Business college in Waterloo and was employed in the office of the Bell Telephone company in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids.

Henry E. Wells and Alice Bower were married on June 30, 1915, in Osage. He died in 1946.

She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the WSCS, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star of which she was a past worthy matron; and of the Shrine Auxiliary of Vinton.

Surviving are a step-daughter, Mrs. J. F. Zimmerman of Phoenix, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.
