Funeral services were held Thursday, June 18, 1987 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, Iowa, for Verna Prochaska, 84, of rural Orchard. She died on Monday, June 15, 1987 at A Findlay, Ohio, nursing home.

Rev. L. Connolly officiated, and burial was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Prochaska was born on September 3, 1902 at Olney, Illinois, to William and Eva (Wickham) Canny. She moved to Iowa with her family in 1912 and attended rural Mitchell County Schools. On April 3, 1923, she married Emil Prochaska.

They lived and farmed in the Orchard area. Mr. Prochaska died in 1979.

She was also preceded in death by one son; one daughter; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; two sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hub (Dorothy) Boekmeier of Rudd, Iowa, and Mrs. Jack (Marie) Knight of Seattle, Washington; two sons, Charles of Findlay, Ohio, and Harold of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Glen Canny of Osage.
