Anne Olsdatter was born October 11, 1833 at Tingelstad or Jaren, Hadeland, Gran, Norway to Ole Larsen Hvamstad and Berthe Torstensdatter Gagnum, the second of their ten children.

Anna married Gulbrand Lundberg Gulbrandsen on February 3, 1863 at Hadeland. The couple had one son, Lars (born 1863).

In 1865, the couple and son emigrated to America, landing at New York City and traveling on to settle at Nordness, Winneshiek Co, Iowa near the Washington Prairie Chruch, southeast of Decorah, Iowa. There, they dropped the Lundberg surname and used Gulbrandsen. They lived in that area about 4 years and 2 more sons were born: Gilles in 1867 and Martin in 1868.

In 1869, the family moved to Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa where their three daughters were born: Anna Olava (1871); Bertha Louise (1874) and Martha Maria (1876). Anne's brother, Ole Hvamstad (Wamstad), who had emigrated to Iowa in 1864 moved to Mitchell County with them. The 2 family's farms sat beside each other.

The family was active in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Iowa.

1880: Gilbert Gulbrantson 52, Anna Gulbrantson 46, Lars Gulbrantson 16, Gillas Gulbrantson 13, Martin Gulbrantson 11, Oleva Gulbrantson 9, Bertha Gulbrantson 6, Martha Gulbrantson 4.

1885: Gulbrand Gulbrandson 57, Anna Gulbrandson 51, Lars Gulbrandson 21, Gilas Gulbrandson 18, Martin Gulbrandson 18, Tilda Gulbrandson 14, Louisa Gulbrandson 11, Martha Gulbrandson 8.

1895: Ann Gulbrandson age 61.

1900: Adolph Guldbranson 31, Guldbran Guldbranson 72, Anne Guldbranson 66, Gilles Guldbranson 33.

Anna Olsdatter Hvamstad Gulbrandsen died October 14, 1902 at Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
