Clarence Albert Horgen was born December 2, 1906 on his parents' farm near Orchard, West Lincoln township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Gulbrand Halvorsen Horgen and Ingeborg Petersdatter, the youngest of their ten children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Horgan 4[14], Gillman E. Horgan 12, Amanda C. Horgan 11, Oscar Horgan, 7 Clarence A. Horgan 5, Martha K. Horgan 73.

Found in the 1915 - 1925 censuses at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa:
1915: Clarence Horgen age 8.
1920: Gilbert Horgen 60, Isabelle Horgen 60, Jugual Horgen 24, Gilman Horgen 21, Amanda Horgen 19, Oscar Horgen 18, Clarence Horgen 13, Martha Horgen 83.
1925: Gillen H Horgen 65, Isabell R Horgen 65, Oscar Horgen 22, Clarence Horgen 18.

He attended and graduated from the University of Iowa (1926-1930).

Found in the 1930 census at Wausau, Marathon, Wisconsin. Boarder. Occupaton was an accountant at the public utilities: Clarence Horgen age 23.

Clarence married Leone C Mathias on May 1936 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

Marriage announcement from the Mason City, Iowa Globe Gazette, May 9, 1936:
Osage - Clarence Albert Horgen, son of Mrs. Gilbert Horgen and Leone C Mathias of Wausau, Wisconsin, were married here Friday morning at the Osage Lutheran parsonage by the Rev T. P. Solem. The groom's sister, Amanda Lincke and husband Emil were witnesses. Mr. and Mrs. Horgen left immediately for Iowa City where they were guests over Sunday of the bride's brother. Mr. Horgen was born and reared here but has been empoyed in an electrical firm in Wausau, WI. where they will make their home.

He enlisted in the service (1942-1946) and served in World War II.

News article June 4, 1950 from Waterloo Courier: Mr & Mrs Clarence Horgen and Duane, Menasha, Wisconsin, were in Osage on Saturday to visit the Henry Horgen family, Elmer Isaac family and Emil Lincke family. The Wisconsin resident is to attend the National Reserve Officer training course at Ft Leavenworth, Kansas, beginning today.

News article from Appleton Post Crescent, December 22, 1959: "Clarence Horgen is Lieutenant Colonel" - Clarence Horgen has received notice from Washington that he has been promoted to lieutenant colonel in the army reserve effective June 1959. Horgen, an accountant with the Marathon division of the American Can company, formerly was commanding officer of the 379th fanance dispersing section at the Appleton armory. He has been in the reserve for 25 years and served overseas in WWII.

Clarence died November 8, 1983 at Outagamie, Wisconsin and believe he is buried in Wisconsin.
