Laura Olivia Haugerud was born September 9, 1867 at the Haugerud farm in Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Ole the Younger Rustand Haugerud and Maren Torine Ask, the first of their ten children.

Found in the 1870 census at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Ole Hougerud 36, Mary Hougerud 24, Laura Hougerud 3, George Hougerud 1, Betsey Larsen 25, Iver Ellingson 20.

In 1879, her father sold Haugerud to Knud Haugen and the family moved northwest to homestead land.

Found in the 1880 census at Drayton, Pembina, Dakota Territory: Ole O. Haugerud 46, Mary Haugerud 33, Laura Haugerud 12, George Haugerud 10, Matilda Haugerud 5, Annetta Haugerud 3, Tolef Johnson 27.

Laura married Carl H Hendrickson in 1890 at North Dakota.

The couple had nine children:
