Marith Olsdatter Haugen was born September 1, 1868 at Valdres, Oppland, Norway to Ole Olsen Haugen and Anna Haraldsdatter, the fifth of their seven children. Marith (Mary) emigrated May 1878 to America.

Found in the 1885 census living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Ole C Hangen 56, Anna Hangen 56, Anna Hangen 26, Carrie Hangen 23, Lena Hangen 21, Julia Hangen 19, Marry Hangen 17, Harry Hangen 14, Nettie Hangen 8.

Married Ole Larsen Wahl 1904 at Little Falls, Morrison, Minnesota. The couple had 2 daughters: Alice Ina Wahl (born September 30, 1904 Little Falls, Morrison, MN, died April 7, 1985 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa) and Elizabeth Wahl (born July 20, 1906 Little Falls, Morrison, MN, died July 20, 1906 Little Falls, Morrison, MN).
