Mary R. Streit-Smith, 34, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 1986, at her home, following a lengthy illness. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, October 13, 1986, at the Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester. Father S. Brown officiated, and burial was in Visitation Cemetery, Stacyville, Iowa.

Mary R. Streit was born on September 2, 1952, in Stacyville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Bonita Streit, and grew up there. She moved to Rochester after graduation from Univerity of Northern Iowa (UNI) in Cedar Falls. On May 15, 1982, she and Ronald R. Smith were united in marriage in Rochester. She was a microbiologist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. Mary was a member of the Traverski Ski Club, and was part president of the A.A.U.W.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald, of Rochester; a son, Michael R. Smith, of Rochester; one step-daughter, Heather Smith of Rochester; her parents, John and Bonita Smith of Stacyville; four sisters, Linda Streit-Olday of Colorado Springs, Janet Streit of Evansville, Indiana, Judy Streit of Iowa City, and Karen Streit of Ames, Iowa; four brothers: David Streit of Dallas, Texas, Robert Streit of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Dr. Duane Streit of Carroll, Iowa, and John Streit of Ames; and her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Regina Koenigs of Stacyville.
