Louisa Gunilda Helgeson was born May 30, 1850 at Neenah, Winnebago, Wisconsin to Anne Larson (1818 Norway - 1892 St Ansgar, Iowa) and John Helgeson (1801 Norway-1880 St Ansgar, Iowa). She moved west to Mitchell County, Iowa with her parents in 1858.
Louisa married Erik Gunderson on May 20, 1869 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
-------------------------The couple had 11 children who were all born on their farm at Newburg township, Mitchell County, Iowa:
Hannah Laura (born March 9, 1870, married Sven H Bendickson 1889, died February 9, 1891 at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa);
John George (born February 12, 1872, married Marie Bertha Magoris 1897 North Dakota, died February 10, 1924 Aneta, Nelson, North Dakota);

Emma Helena (born July 12, 1886, married Lewis Haberkorn 1928 St Ansgar, Iowa, died January 16, 1974 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);
Genia Josephine (born June 7, 1888, married Albert Ferdinand Schmidt October 6, 1915 St Ansgar, Iowa, died August 13, 1969 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa) and
Elvina Lorena (born June 6, 1890, died May 31, 1891 Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa).
