Gulbrand Lundberg Gulbrandsen was born February 8, 1828 at Skrukkli, Hurdalen, Norway to Gudbrand Olsen and Magnild Johnsdatter. (RCLC Cemetery says birthdate is Feb. 8, 1828; Hadeland Lag records say Feb. 2, 1828.) (Gulbrand's parents were married December 29, 1818 in Hurdal, Norway.)
Gulbrand married Anne Olsdatter Wamstad (Hvamstad) on February 3, 1863 at Hadeland, Oppland, Norway. They emigrated 1866 to near Decorah, Winneshiek County Iowa with their older children. Three years later (1869), they moved west to settle on farmland in Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. (1873 RCLC Church membership list says Gulbrand Lundberg Gulbrandsen came from Washington Prairie, Iowa in 1869.) Farmer. Gulbrand and Anna had 6 children.

1895: G Gulbrandson age 67.

Gulbrand Gulbrandsen died April 9, 1902 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Gulbrand Gulbrandson settled in Cedar Twnshp., Mitchell Co., in 1869. The western part of the township did not settle up as rapidly as the eastern, and Gulbrand Gulbrandson, in company with Ole Wamstad was one of the earliest settlers in the western part.He was born Feb. 13, 1828, in Norway, where he was reared to agricultural pursuits.
In 1862, he was married to Annie Wamstad. They have six children: Lars, Gilles, Martin Adolph, Matilda, Louisa and Martha.
In 1866, he left his native land for America, landed at New York, went to Winneshiek Co., IA, where he remained until he came here to Mitchell Co. He has erected a substantial farm house, planted a grove, and has a pleasant home.
